The May edition of Peninsular Living saw the founder of No Nits Now featured in a special article celebrating ‘Mumpreneurs’.
The story behind No Nits
As featured in Peninsula Living magazine.
Every business starts with a problem. Ours started with an itchy one.
It began in New York
Long before No Nits was doing the rounds of Sydney's Northern Beaches, our founder Deb was a busy mum living in New York — and head lice were a permanent, maddening fixture in her household. She tried everything. Chemical treatments, special shampoos, every product on the pharmacy shelf. Nothing worked for long. The lice always came back.
The breakthrough came when she watched a professional nit-picker in Brooklyn at work. No chemicals. No gimmicks. Just conditioner, a quality comb, and painstaking, strand-by-strand thoroughness. Watching her, Deb realised something that changed everything: you don't need to poison lice to beat them. You just need to remove every single louse and every single egg. Nothing left behind means nothing to come back.
Bringing it home
When Deb returned to Australia and settled in Warriewood, she brought that knowledge with her — and quickly discovered she wasn't the only parent losing the battle. Time-poor families across the Northern Beaches were stuck in the same cycle: treat, comb, relax, reinfest, repeat.
So she refined the technique over years of practice and built a mobile service around it, even picking kids up from school so parents didn't have to take time off work. As she'd tell her clients: it's not a magic comb. It's an excellent comb, a thorough technique, and knowing exactly how the lice life cycle works.
Within a few years, she was on speed dial for parents right across the peninsula — and Peninsula Living magazine had dubbed her "The Hair Angel."
The same care, carried forward
Today, No Nits carries that legacy on. We're still chemical-free. We still use the same meticulous strand-by-strand method and professional-grade combs. We still come to you — across the Northern Beaches, North Shore, and Eastern Suburbs — because we know the last thing a stressed parent needs is to drag itchy kids across town.
And we still believe the most important thing we offer isn't just treatment, it's knowledge. Every appointment includes showing you how lice actually work, so you can spot them early and stay ahead of them for good.
From stressed to sorted
